To calculate wins/loses against the BYE, find the sum of your four team members' averages (Ex. 112 + 141 + 120 + 89 = 382). Subtract 40 from the sum you just got (Ex. 382 - 40 = 342). The number you end up with (Ex. 342) is the number of pins you must get each game to win that game. This is total scratch pins (no handicap added).
Now take that same number (Ex. 342), and multiply it by 3 (Ex. 3 x 342 = 1026). This (Ex. 1026) is the number of pins (again scratch, not handicap) you must get to win total pins.
