Lightning Strikes is hosting a Seniors Tournament on April 29-30, 2013. For this reason, we will not be able to have our No Tap Tournament on April 30th as originally planned.

Our No Tap Tournament will now be on May 7, 2013.

Earn Free Lineage!!

Lightning Strikes has established a Bowler Referral Program. For every new bowler that is referred and joins a league, the referring bowler will get some free lineage.
If a new bowler joins a summer league, the person referring them earns 1 week of free lineage. If a new bowler joins a fall/winter league, the person referring them earns 3 weeks of free lineage.

New bowlers must not have bowled and/or subbed in any league during the Summer of 2011 or Fall/Winter 2011-2012.

A coupon will be given to the referring bowler after the new bowler has joined a league the first week. New bowler must bowl a minimum of 4 weeks.

Please fill out the Bowler Referral form and turn in to the league secretary at the beginning League Meeting.

There is no limit to how many new bowlers may be referred. The center has final discretion.

League News

• Christmas Gift Exchange

  On December 13th bring a $10 wrapped gift if you want to participate in the gift exchange. We will do the same thing as last year... all gifts go in a pile, and when you bowl your first strike, you get to pick a gift.



• League Luncheon

  The League Luncheon will be December 13th at 12:30 PM at the East Buffet restaurant next to K-Mart on Chalkville Mt. Road. Please RSVP with Kathy or Kim.



• Last 2 Weeks Fees

  Fees for Weeks 31 & 32 are past due. If you have not yet paid, please pay ASAP!

Prize List for the 2011-2012 Season

   Today, the Prize Committee submitted two options for the distribution of prizes for the 2011-2012 season. Kathy Womack, President, submitted ballots to each team to submit their vote. Betty King, Sergant-At-Arms, counted the ballots. There were 4 votes for Option 1 and 2 votes for Option 2, so Option 1 will be our Prize List.

Rule Addition

In the Board Meeting today, a rule was added for clarification by a unanimous vote of the six Board Members that were present. The new rule reads...

Position rounds will be bowled on weeks 16 and 32.

Moving to different Lanes!

Due to the problems we had today on lanes 13-18, Lightning Strikes has agreed to move us back to lanes 25-30. To see a revised schedule with new lane assignments, look in the left-hand column under "League Documents".

Individual High Averages were Ann Marie Brock (172.06) and Kathy Lawson (166.52).

Most Improved Bowlers were Kim Bennett (+14.67) and Glenda Glenn (+9.30).

Board Meeting

The League Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, September 6th, at 9:00 AM prior to bowling at Lightning Strikes. All board members should review the current League Rules and come prepared to vote on said rules and/or propose changes to rules.

League Rule Change

A change was made to the League Rules at our last meeting on May 10, 2011. Paragraph five of the rules now reads:

Team position shall be determined on a point basis. The seven point system shall be used. Two points given for each game won and one point given to the team with the most total pins.

The only other change to the rules was dealing with the cost of lineage. The change was made in the first sentence of paragraph ten and reads:

The bowling fee will be $12.00 per week, with $8.00 for lineage, $3.50 for supplies & prize fund, and $0.50 per week for secretary/treasurer fee.

Announcements

• All No Tap fees need to be paid by April 19, 2011. The No Tap Tournament will be Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Following the No Tap tournament, we will have our end of season meeting and luncheon. Following the luncheon, awards will be presented.
  
  
• We will have a 12 week Summer League which will begin on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. If you want to bowl this summer, please see Kim Bennett to sign up and fill out paperwork.
  
  
• The Annual GBUSBC Membership Meeting will be on Saturday, May 14th, at 1:00 PM. The meeting will be held at The Bridge (Faith Chapel Christian Center), 100B Lexington Street, Birmingham, AL 35218. There will be two people inducted into the Greater Birmingham Hall of Fame. This ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM followed with refreshments and a time of fellowship.
  
  Following the induction, the Annual Membership meeting will begin. The following officers will be elected: 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, 3rd Vice President, six two year directors, and three youth directors. If you would like to apply for any of these positions, please fill out an application and return it to Sara Varnon (address is on application) by May 2nd.
